Last Tuesday saw the return to racing for the Goulburn Triathlon Club and Aquatic Centre’s Aquathon series after the customary 2 week holiday hiatus.
Forty competitors greeted the starter for the Goulburn Power Centre round eight and raced in earnest albeit slightly slower due to festive season jetlag. The club welcomed back Anthony Dorset, Ryan Croker and Angus Taylor for their first race of the season as well as new member Hamish Brown for his first crack at the multisport discipline.
Special mention also goes out to Jamie Miles and Rebecca Miles who stepped up to longer distance divisions for the remainder of the season, Jamie to Open 1 (200/4) and Rebecca to Open 2 (400/4). The club also wishes the couple all the best in their endeavours, as they have taken on the role of Event Directors for the free weekly 5km run known as Goulburn parkrun which resumes this week at 8:00am at Marsden Weir.
As usual the Novice Division and Long Distance Race were the first away followed by the Open 1 and 2 fields staggered by handicaps designed to ensure tight finishes across the 4 races. Charlie Moss and Stella McIntyre maintained their dominance in the Novice race as did Kurt Warn and Olivia Stutchbury in the long distance race and Nadine Moroney in Open 2, however the makeup of the remaining places featured some new names for the first time.
