The ABC television station is currently promoting its “Australia Talks 2021” survey. The survey is aimed at Australians aged 18 and above and seeks to understand modern life in Australia. The results of the survey will be used to inform ABC content on digital, radio and television.
The survey has been developed by the ABC in partnership with social and data scientists from a company called Vox Pop Labs, along with academics from the University of Melbourne. An advisory panel of academics from other Australian universities have also informed the survey.
The survey asks for sensitive information, which is being handled in line with Australian Privacy Principles. The sensitive information includes political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual activity and physical and mental health. Answers are de-identified, and not linked to your email address. Indeed, you don’t even need to supply demographic details about yourself to participate in the survey.
The results of the 2021 survey are being compared with the results of the survey taken in 2019. Survey respondents instantly receive an email that compares their results with others of the same age bracket, which makes for interesting reading!
