As part of preparations for the opening of the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre, the group organising the opening event is calling for historical images from the public to be used as part of the performance.
Images can be uploaded via a form being placed on Council’s website or dropped into the Civic Centre at 184 Bourke Street, where they will be handled carefully, copied, and returned to their owners.
Councillor Alfie Walker is a member of the small group planning the opening event, and said, “We would like to incorporate the rich history of performing arts in our wider region as part of the performance and are planning to use multimedia projections as part of the performance.
“The group is interested in any historical image related to the performing arts and history of our city and region. Images of past performances, rehearsals, events and theatre groups are all of interest, and we hope to get a strong response from the community.
“The opening weekend is being planned as an inclusive event, which will involve a number of wonderful groups and performers from the local community. We look forward to presenting a spectacular performance in February to highlight the opening of the theatre.”
Construction of the 400-seat theatre in Auburn Street is nearing completion, as Zauner Construction move into final fit out of the exciting project. The opening weekend for Goulburn Performing Arts Centre is scheduled for the 25th and 26th February 2021.
