Country Cricket NSW in partnership with Goulburn District Cricket Association and Goulburn Mulwaree Council will host the Final of the McDonald’s Country Championships on Sunday, 21st February 2021 at Seiffert Oval, Goulburn.
The one-day match will see Riverina who remained undefeated in the Southern Pool take on Newcastle who qualified for the Final after wins in rounds one and two of the Northern Pool.
The Championship Final is the highest level of Country Cricket in NSW and Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s Mayor, Bob Kirk, is delighted to welcome both teams to Goulburn.
“The Southern Pool of the Country Championships was a great event in November last year, with beautiful weather and a high standard of Cricket” said Mayor Kirk.
“We continue to build our reputation as a premier destination for sporting events in regional NSW and look forward to welcoming the competitors and supporters on the 21st of February.”
Chair of Country Cricket NSW, Paul Marjoribanks, said he is looking forward to a fiercely contested match which can be likened to a David and Goliath battle.
“Newcastle are back to defend the title after having won three out of the last six finals, they will go up against Riverina who haven’t played in a final for the last 25 years.” “We’re excited to be bringing the Final to Goulburn after hosting preliminary matches there in previous years.
“Both the Goulburn Cricket Association and Goulburn Mulwaree Council have been very supportive of the Country Cricket Championships. The recent improvements to the facilities in Goulburn make for a great playing environment.”
