Council recently awarded a contract to Lloyd Group to commence work on a significant upgrade of Goulburn Waste Management Centre, costing $8.44 million.
The project, which is alternatively known as Re-Use Goulburn, will see the waste management centre transformed to a much more modern facility, including a new drive through recycling shed, and a ‘tip shop’ designed specifically to encourage reuse and recycling, an onsite education centre and second weighbridge.
Mayor Bob Kirk said “It’s pleasing to have awarded the tender for this important upgrade, which will greatly improve user experience at our Waste Management Centre and help us to divert more waste from landfill.
“Council has also managed to gain over $1.2 million in grant funding for the project through the Federal Government Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Grants and the NSW Government’s Waste Less Recycle More program, which greatly assists the project.”
Construction is expected to begin in September and be completed by April 2022.
