This week’s column is inspired by beautiful photos of Goulburn taken by Cat Farrugia and posted to the ‘Goulburn Community Notice Board’ page on Facebook. Cat’s photos evoke a sense of tranquillity and relaxation, and we recommend that you check them out if you haven’t done so already.
How long have you lived in Goulburn?
I’ve been living in Goulburn for six months now. Before this I was living in Canberra and working as a Laboratory Assistant at the University of Canberra, but after my brother died, I moved here to be with my Mum.
What do you especially love about Goulburn?
I love the beautiful town and the beautiful people.
What do you do for a living?
Well, it’s strange you know, but I’ve had a complete turnaround since I moved here. I was always the sort of person who knew where she was going, made plans and stuck to them. But since coming here, I’ve learned to let go and let life take its course.
I work as a Stable Hand at Twin Star Racing. I have been working there full-time for about six or seven weeks now, and I absolutely love it! Emma and Lucy and the whole team are just the most beautiful people, and the horses are beautiful too. My job is to give the horses the best life possible. I do a lot of shovelling [laughs]
, taking the horses for walks, etc.
Are you a professional photographer?
No, I’m self-taught. I have found that being in nature gives me solace; it really is my happy place., and I guess this shows in my photos.
