Sport in the Goulburn electorate received a major boost last week after the NSW Government announced a $589,000 grant for Moss Vale War Memorial Aquatic Centre.
The grant was awarded to Wingecarribee Shire Council to Fund the Moss Vale War Memorial Aquatic Centre Multipurpose Program Room and Access and Inclusion Upgrade.
The grant was part of Round One of the NSW Government’s Regional Sport Facility Fund which sees $50 million awarded over two years for new and upgraded sports facilities in Regional NSW.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman congratulated Wingecarribee Shire Council on receiving the grant which will improve sport infrastructure for the sport-loving community.
“Sport is part of the fabric of the Highlands community,” Mrs Tuckerman said. “The Moss Vale Memorial Aquatic Centre access and inclusion upgrade will provide residents with a modern, fit-for-purpose sports facility.”
Council’s Acting General Manager Marissa Racomelara also welcomed the announcement. “This grant funding will help even more people access and use this wonderful facility and I congratulate the staff of Council and the Aquatic Centre’s operator Bluefit for the application and thank the Member for Goulburn for her continued support of our Shire,” she said.
The Regional Sport Facility Fund provides grants to councils, local sporting bodies, NSW State Sporting Organisations, State Sporting Organisations for People with Disability, National Sporting Organisations and private enterprises.
