Hannah Cotton and Marianne Powles are long-standing members of The Lieder Theatre Company. Their most recent collaboration was on ‘A Musical - Do You Hear the Lieder Sing? Again!’ which they produced together in 2019.
Marianne has also been Musical Director for several Lieder shows including ‘Sinbad, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and Pippin.’ Hannah has choreographed various shows in the region with The Lieder Theatre, Rocky Hill Musical Theatre Company and Crookwell Amateur Dramatic Society.
Marianne and Hannah have been in discussion since this time last year about putting on another musical, but they couldn’t settle on a show. One of their new cast members suggested this show to them, as it has a small cast, which meant they could rehearse and perform safely given the COVID-19 safety restrictions.
They decided to cast two actors for each of the four main roles, for a couple of reasons - firstly that they wanted to give more amazing women the opportunity to be involved, and secondly that having a double-cast allowed them to be flexible, in case someone became ill or had to self-isolate during the rehearsal period or performance run.
This show brings together some very experienced Lieder performers and welcomes some newbies to the Lieder stage. Their double-cast consists of Sarah Trama, Anne Watterston, Amanda Aitken, Amelia Whalley-Routley, Alecia Walker, Melissa Shoard, Ebrentia Brits, Cara Robinson and Michelle Treble.
The show has an all-female cast, crew, band and production team, many of whom are mothers themselves.
