Our Community Pantry is a food rescue service that saves good food such as fruit, vegetables, bakery items and packaged food and other household items from going into landfill. It is affordable and available to members.
The service has a mission to make food and other household goods available to those in the community who may be struggling financially. It provides a socially inclusive environment so everyone can access enough affordable and nutritious food, maintaining people’s dignity and strengthening the community.
Paula, who started and runs Our Community Pantry, is an inspirationally strong woman, who herself once needed assistance. Her experience made her decide that she wanted to give back and help others who are struggling. She has created a business that is thriving with the hard work she and her staff and volunteers are putting into it. She said that ‘2020 was a year that was a blur’, with the unprecedented need for help in the community and having to deal with the imposed restrictions.
The food they provide is sourced from the Food Bank, based at Glendinning. They collect fresh food from the Food Bank three times a week and have packaged food delivered to their Bargo base. Paula has purchased 2 trucks to do the collections and deliveries, which has made the work much easier to manage.
Paula and her team deliver food to Goulburn, Oran Park, New Berrima, Mount Annan and Bargo. If you would like to use this service, please use the link below to access the Our Community Pantry page and become a member.
