The Goulburn Mulwaree Award for outstanding community work and contributions made by volunteers will soon be formally recognised.
The Goulburn Mulwaree Award process will seek to recognise the many wonderful citizens amongst us who stand out by their achievements and service to the community through a local award.
A working party will be established following this year’s Council election in September to create the processes and assessment guidelines for the newly established Goulburn Mulwaree Award.
“Individual contribution by volunteers can be recognised in many ways, by recognition within local organisations right through to Orders of Australia. There was a gap in this system and believe the Goulburn Mulwaree Award (GMA) can fill this” said Mayor Kirk.
“Year in, year out, there are many wonderful citizens amongst us who stand out by their achievements and service to the community, who I believe, we should honour
by way of our own local award.”
Council will formally call for expressions of interest for members of the Goulburn Mulwaree Award Working Party following September elections this year. The working party once established will be delegated authority to make all decisions relating to receipt, processing, assessment, and presentation of the Goulburn Mulwaree Award.
The new award process will:
• give special recognition to more members of our community whose contributions and/or achievements are above and beyond the norm.
• encourage outstanding and valued service, and further instil our sense of community pride.
• provide further opportunity to refer individuals’ credentials on to the Australian Honours and Awards Secretariat for their consideration.
