Road Safety Boost For Dalton Road

The Australian and New South Wales Governments’ accelerated $398 million investment in road safety improvements through the Safer Roads Program will see almost $1 million go towards upgrades on Dalton Road.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said both governments were working closely to ensure vital infrastructure funding like this continued to flow around this region.

“I am pleased to see Dalton Road (MR124) will receive $977,519 in funding under the Safer Roads Program to make road and safety improvements to a section of road between Dalton and Gunning,” Mr Taylor said.

“This will ensure a safer route for vehicles travelling between the two towns, create more jobs and support local businesses.”

State Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said the funding was welcome news for local residents at the tail end of a tumultuous year.

“I know that safer roads and better access are important issues for the communities in Upper Lachlan and will help them bounce-back from the challenges of the last year,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

“We have listened, and we have acted – residents can rest assured I will keep fighting day-in and day-out for the infrastructure our community needs to thrive.

“Absolutely nothing is more important than ensuring each and every commuter on our local roads gets home to their loved ones safe and sound at the end of each trip, which is why every single dollar we spend on vital safety-improving upgrades is a dollar well spent.”

The NSW Government is spending $822 million over five years through the Safer Roads program, with $258 million allocated in 2020 to accelerate program delivery.
