The Paperback Café, based in Goulburn Mulwaree Library, celebrated two years of successful operations this week.

The café provides a wonderful service to patrons of the library, while also offering young people the opportunity to learn valuable skills in customer service, cash handling, and of course making coffee.

“In just two years the Paperback Café has become a huge success, with over 95 young people participating in the venture, and 45 of those finding employment in other cafes in Goulburn” said Mayor Bob Kirk.

“The café has also helped over a dozen young people stay in school and provided support through suspensions and back to school plans for many more.”

If you are aged 14 or above and have an interest in working as a barista and in the hospitality industry, then this program is for you. Council’s Youth Services unit facilitates a barista training program via the café in Goulburn Library.

The program consists of practical and theory base elements and runs for approximately 12 weeks depending on your individual needs and availability. Trading hours for Paperback Café are 10am – 12:30pm and 2:30pm – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
