A great Manly stay can make a big difference to a country child’s life
Are you considering going away this Easter break? Have you ever considered a trip to Manly?
The Drummond House guest house, located within local charity Royal Far West’s beachside site, is open for business again – offering affordable weekend accommodation just steps from the iconic Manly beach.
Established in 1924, Royal Far West is one of Australia’s most respected charities, offering health, education and disability services to country children and their families.
During the week, Royal Far West’s team of 95+ paediatric clinicians support children with speech and language delays, behavioural and learning difficulties, early life trauma and mental illness at their site in Manly, as well as via Telecare and community visits.
Following a year-long hiatus, the charity is again opening its doors to weekend holiday makers, with a central location that is perfectly situated for a mini break. In addition to the beach, guests are just steps away from great shops, cafés, restaurants and nightlife, and it is a short, flat walk from the ferry terminal for those arriving by public transport.
Pre-COVID, the rooms were very popular with guests attending northern beaches’-based events, including football matches, surf carnivals, food festivals and weddings, and for people living in rural and remote NSW wanting a city-cation at an affordable price.
The funds raised from holiday bookings go straight towards helping developmentally vulnerable children who live in rural and remote areas to access the health and wellbeing services they need to thrive.
The 34 rooms, each with bathroom, tv and tea/coffee making facilities, are available most Friday and Saturday nights, and are also available over the entire Easter, June and October long weekends. There’s a variety of room configurations from 2-6 beds, making them suitable for friends, couples and families. For peace of mind, the charity offers a risk-free COVID booking policy, enabling guests to cancel without penalty until the day of their stay.
The average tariff for a budget twin room is $140 per night, which includes a generous continental breakfast. Free WiFi, communal kitchenettes, lounge and dining areas are also available, with undercover parking and BBQ facilities also offered onsite.
