Calling all girls aged 12 to 19 years! Local youth mentor and educator, Jessica van Groningen, has been commissioned by the Goulburn Mulwaree Council to run a vision board workshop for teenage girls.
Jessica began her career working in early childhood education, then as a vet nurse and spent over a decade presenting ‘Responsible Pet Education’ sessions to children in local primary schools, preschools and day-care centres. She has recently completed studies in holistic counselling and youth mentoring, which led to the creation of her company called “Girl Tribe Goulburn”. Girl Tribe Goulburn provides a safe and supportive space where girls gather together, support themselves and connect with each other.
You may be wondering what a vision board is. Well, it’s a tool used to help clarify what truly matters to you. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life.
The girls will learn about personal values and strengths before finding images that resonate with them and affixing them to cardboard. The images for the upcoming workshop have kindly been donated by “Park Newsagency”. Once the vision boards are finished, the girls will be invited to share them with one another. The objective is to use the boards to create a sense of identity and confidence.
