The growth of Goulburn and its continued prosperity has had an impact on Windellama Road, which is becoming busier each year, and its condition has therefore degraded.
Last week the Council announced work is well underway on the road with $5.5 million to be spent on the road over the next two years.
The project was funded by the NSW and Federal Government’s accelerated Fixing Local Roads Program, which contributed $4.56 million, with the Council funding the remainder.
Mayor Bob Kirk said he was pleased to see the project underway, employing mostly local contractors.
“This funding injection has allowed us to bring forward a significant amount of work for Windellama Road, which residents know is becoming busier each year. Work will involve pavement rehabilitation, curve realignments and major drainage upgrades between Gundary Lane and Spa Road.”
The works will be undertaken over 5 stages, which have commenced at the Oallen Ford Road and Windellama Road intersection. The project will move to focus on the section between Windellama Road and Elouera Lane in the coming months.
